Certain Uncertainty
by Adia Blackmon

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. --- Revelation 22:13

I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. --- Malachi 3:6

Praise God for change and growth, without it nothing develops and nothing is fruitful. Even knowing that I often dread change. Lately my mind has been littered with concern about a dear friendship, succeeding at my new vocation, fear of letting go and succeeding beyond my wildest hopes in Christ Jesus and least of all this election business we've got going on.

I sat down with a sister in Christ who was helping me put my hands around some things I am learning through trial by fire as a first year teacher. After helping me work through some techniques and suggesting many strategies and resources I could use, we of course (I say "of course" because I live in the Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C area, where for many politics equal life) chatter about the current political situation in our nation. I was humbled to hear her run over the reasons she voted for the candidate she did, realizing that although we share many views, beliefs and ideas we did not cast our vote for the same candidate.

What she said ultimately was that beyond this circus "God is going to do what He wants to do how He wants to do it." I drove home floored. I was in awe of God's all pervading love and perfect provision and how I continue to attempt to remove my life from His hands and carry it myself. God is God and from the smallest to the biggest concern He has created the pattern of our lives and of His Kingdom, His plan is worked out and it has been since before the foundation of the earth.

What I realized about each and every concern that I had was that God rules hearts and minds, He will guide my friendship. He ordains paths, He will continue to cause me to learn and succeed as an educator. That His PERFECT LOVE and fear cannot reside in the same place, I succeed in His love or I fail in my fear.

Finally regardless of how the nation decides our new head of state God is, was and always will be sovereign. All uncertainties in my life are certain to have a positive turnout and certain to glorify the God that never changes and has plans to prosper me. From the immediate concerns of my life to the concerns of the country I praise God that no matter who is placed in the White House, the Ruler of my life will never change and I will continue to receive the same benefits of love, peace and prosperity.

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.  Revelation 19:6
