PlantOne Amazing Journey
by Kat Wofford

As my husband and I sat watching television last night, I gazed at the plant sitting on the hearth. I couldn’t help but think back to the day our daughter Lane, waltzed in with it. Lush and full, it was absolutely beautiful! About to renew our wedding vows, this plant, she told us, would add the perfect decorative touch!

The strange thing was that while deciding where to place it, she talked to it as though it were her dearest friend. Realizing I need only glance at any living plant in order for it to immediately wilt, she informed me she was determined to be sure this one survived at least until the ceremony was over.

So what happened?

Because now, it sits stagnate and rather hopeless looking, as though any efforts made to revive it would be in vain. Without thinking, I had neglected to water it, or find the time to set it in the sun, much less talk to it. Eventually it lost its luster and glow. I believe the same thing, at times, happens to Gods children’s. We ask Him into our hearts, not realizing that in order to grow and flourish spiritually, we must be fed and nurtured.

As new believers, we’re merely babies in Christ, needing the steady hand and guidance of our Father, so we endlessly seek Him, through His word, prayer, and through fellow believers. We continually look to Him, resting in the assurance that regardless of how stagnant or despondent we may occasionally feel, there is a well to draw from where living waters flow. Waters that strengthen, and lift us up when we bear a heavy load, and provide comfort when we’re disheartened.

Unfortunately, many will choose to simply settle. Settle into the comfort zone that comes from knowing our heavenly mansion is secure, without a thought of the wonderful adventure that lies in wait! Granted, asking God into our hearts is the most important decision one can make, but never think for a moment that this is where it ends, for it’s here the journey truly begins, so buckle up and hold on tight, ‘cause if you’ll let Him, GOD’S GONNA ROCK YOUR WORLD!
