Marriage
What God Expects of Men and Women in Marriage
by Linda Dominique Grosvenor
Men and women have been drawing each other for centuries. There are late great lovers that influence us all with their romantic ways that send us stumbling forth, pricked by the arrow of love. There has been no great mystery when it comes to getting the attention of the opposite sex. We meet, we appeal to each other, we share, we fall in love and we marry. Most would think that once the ring goes on the finger, mission accomplished. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Marriage is not a vacation. It doesn't run on "cruise control." Marriage is work, so much so that if you don't do your part, your foundation will crumble and you could lose what you once cherished so dearly.
It is for that reason I will share with you what God expects of a man and woman in marriage.
Trust is essential. Partners must foster and possess a constant belief and a reliant expectation in each other.
Faithfulness and being true to one's word, one's vows and adhering to the Biblical principles of marriage is vital.
Affection and emotional fondness for your spouse yields a loving relationship where both partners convey their devotion continuously.
Communicating and sharing with each other your true thoughts and opinions openly and honestly, makes marriages last.
Supporting each other's ideas, thoughts and feelings (even in prayer) helps sustain the marital commitment.
Complying and cooperating readily with each other in accordance with the Word, pleases not only your spouse, but God.
Intimacy is a special private part of marriage. Sexual familiarity, and a constant personal closeness, leaves little or no room for intrusion.
Submitting to each other's feelings and needs is not a power trip or a weakness, there is beauty in submission.
Being appealing affects more than just the eyes. We must purposely attract, amuse and stimulate our partner's mind and emotions daily.
Awareness is the key! Be aware of the enemy's devices.
If we fail in any of the above attributes, it can be the beginning of the end.
Make and keep it a joint effort to attain your lifelong goals together!
